A golden retriever in the tradition of antique toile textiles — crisp blue-and-white detail, an elegant profile, and the flowing coat and gentle bearing of one of the most beloved companion breeds. The generous white ground keeps the composition clean and open. Golden retrievers were originally bred in the Scottish Highlands in the mid-nineteenth century by Lord Tweedmouth, who crossed a yellow retriever with a now-extinct Tweed Water Spaniel. The breed was developed for reliability, gentleness, and an exceptional capacity for retrieving game from water.
